How to play GP Gaffer
GP Gaffer is an online fantasy GP game allowing you to take charge of and compete with a GrandPrix team. Pick drivers, chassis, and engine. You will earn points from the events of real races as the season develops.
Playing GP Gaffer is easy
Sign up and register your username and team name, you will be given a £75M budget to spend wisely. Pick your team with:
-
Two drivers
-
A chassis manufacurer
-
An engine (power unit)
That’s it, you’re now all set to enjoy the new season with a bit of Fantasy GP.
Between races you will spend your time maximising your team
Between races each week = 1 credit, these can be used in the following ways:
-
Spend a week on Swapping a selection in your team. Swapping an item (e.g. driver) = 1 credit
-
Spend 1 credit on your hotlap setup with a chosen driver. This will give you 1.5 times the qualifying and race points for the next race.
-
Spend 2 credits on race setup with a chosen driver and you double your points for the next races qualifying and race points.
-
Aerodynamic work requires 1 credit, but will give 1.5 times the scoring for both qualifying and race (rounded down).
-
Engine change, this is a little bit special and requires just 1 credit. You will get double points that week for both your qualifying and race points, but as with a normal GP team you can only do this 4 times during a season. Use this wisely.
-
You can choose none of the above and save your time to be spent on promotional activities. This will earn you £1M per credit. This can then be used later in the season to spend on alterations to your team.

No points for a DNF classification |
All drivers will score points on their classified finish position, this is not affected by finishing the full race distance. If a driver goes out on lap 1, they can still score, as can the chassis. Qualifying positions are based on the end of qualifying, not the position they take on the grid. Penalties are not taken into account.
Just remember that if you spend your time wisely, you could be doubling up on you points. Have fun.
After your first race you will be able to spend the time between races on setup and development. Visit the How To Manage Your Team page to get a break down on how to do this.
