Round 3: China

The Gaffer
Managers have until the end of Thursday night to make their changes to teams. Beware cut off is at 00:00 Friday 10th so changes need to be complete on the 9th. So with a surprising result in Malaysia are we all now thinking that Mercedes are overpriced and Ferrari the team to bet on? I'm not so sure, but China may give us some similar conditions for the race.

What have we learnt? Well, Mercedes and Ferrari both look quick, with Williams in a clear third. Both Toro Rosso and Sauber seem to have genuine speed and offer some great value for money.

Manor, Force India and McLaren have some catching up to do. The steps that McLaren have made over the first two races promise improvement as the season progresses, but I'm not sure you can bank on any of these giving a great return in the first half of the season.

What about Red Bull, they do seem to have got themselves in a bit of a mess. Slower than their junior team Toro Rosso and starting to fall out with their engine manufacturer. The noises from their camp don't sound encouraging, but it is easy to forget that they have won multiple championships in the recent past and turned things around quickly from what looked like a far worse position last year. Surely they will get better as the season develops.

Crash bang Lotus! Are Lotus quick, well they seem to be in qualifying but they need to keep the cars on the track in the race. Time will tell, but both their drivers have a reputation for enthusiastic racing and an elbows out approach to others. One week they could be on the podium, but are they more likely to crash out on lap 1? Are they a gamble worth taking?
